This article is rather interesting and informative, although I have my reservations about certain issues. First, the learned Bishop Dr Ludwig Schawz that, "the third commandment as the Day of the Lord and of rest". Where is his evidence to support this? I usually read the Bible and have a preference for the King James Version. When I looked at the the commandments in Exodus 20:4-6, the third commandment is documented as "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them. (Paraphrased). I respectfully would like to know, where his evidence came from?
Second, I agree with Karel Nowak's statement that we cannot ignore the others for whom Sunday has no bearing as a day of worship. I would like to ask though, will those who fit into this facet of not worshipping on a Sunday - be punished if Sunday is legislated?
Lastly, I agree with Vittonio Prodi that society has become materialistic. However, I reject the notion that Sunday has become the last place/moment in which spirituality can be defended. I believe that my aforementioned reservations about Sunday can be used here as well.
